I have always tried to live under the thought that if I live life honestly and believe that there is good left in the world all will be peachy. Karma goes both ways. The guy how stole all my tools from my truck on Monday was apprehended today. The witness who saw him lifting tools from my truck and scared the guy off , saw the van traveling down the road today , made a uturn to make sure it was the same one, had his wife look for the cops card in her purse and as they approached the intersection who of all people shows up and spots the van at the same time but the investigating officer who almost takes out the witness while making a uturn to pull the van over. Tells the guy that when he dropped my chainsaw and along with it his newly stolen sunglasses. his fingerprints were lifted off them and now that he has been identified , they will match the prints and he is done (stick a fork in him) He didnt have my tools with him , but has till Wed to show up with them or full restitution. If he then turns in his drug dealer or bigger fish , they will deal with him. If not warrent will be issued and he will go to jail. What a small world, and proves again my theory on karma, mine came out good and he will deal with his negative karma. I owe the witness a big dinner , which he will not accept, there are still good people left in this world.

Couple of thoughts on this..........
*IF* he happens to get loose on some techinal b.s., then you know what the next job is for the chainsaw:mad:
My Karma ran over my Dogma:rolleyes:
Yes, people are generally good in nature - but nature itself is the problem, which results in chitty people. Good things happen to good people - bad things also happen to good people. Good things happen to bad people and as well, bad things happen to bad people. The difference is the bad people don't care one way or the other:(
Glad to hear this is working out for you Marc. Most never EVER hear or see anything about this sort of crime again. It usually gets lost in some sort of paperwork filed away and that's the end of it. I agree, you need to find a way to either repay the witness in a "like and kind way", or better still, "pay it forward":D

Thats when he told me about his plan to make the guy play the game by giving up a bigger fish. Thats when I told him even if I get my tools back, throw the book at him to try and prevent this from happening again and make an example out of him. Your right, the guy is lucky I was not the one who caught him, i'm sure he would have done something to make me "defend myself".

Marc I am truely glad to hear that the A**hole was apprehended and I hope that you either get your tools or monitary compensation for your loss. Karma is a ***** and sometimes it never seem that it works it self out, we are always on the losing end.

Edit - Snippage 8< .... there are still good people left in this world.
Yes, there ARE STILL good people in this world. However the number of "successful" people in this world far outweighs the number of good people.
I like David's idea to "pay it forward". That's the suggestion I give to anyone I help out, if they offer up any kind of reward. I just tell them to do something to help the next person in need. Some do,... and I'm sure some don't, but it certainly gives the positive side a fair chance at recognition. I also quickly explain why I do it, and who did the same for me (who quite frankly didn't have the money or time to offer, but helped me many times).
Glad to hear things with a positive twist for you for a change.

I would not get to comfortable with the old Police man. Here is what I see happening to you. The Cops are using your *** to get some one that never did a thing to you.
1. Cops are using you.
2. You are not getting any justice so forget it. FTP
3.Cops could be really putting you in harms way when they are playing their games with the crimminal.
4. You need to call the DA, and tell them Bull****. I want him charged, and do not use my ***.
5. If they give you a big story we need to get the bad guys off the street. Then tell the Cops you want a free pass offering for the future.

1. They are not involving me in it at all, I will not be used.
2. If I get my tools back and they charge the guy , I have gotten my justice.
3. Again they are not using me in harms way.
4.They are going to charge him regardless of what I want , it is in the hands of the C.I.D. and the D.A.
I have learned that having your attitude is the farthest way to get them to do anything for you. But thanks for your concern.
Now for a bit of bad mouthing them on my part, when they pulled the guy over , it turns out he had expired tags and no insurance,. I'm trying to figure out why that alone didnt land him in jail. Cop said dispatch got back to him after the guy had left the scene. The way I remember it, if you dont have proof of insurance , you go to jail until you can provide it. Wed. came and went and the investigators couldnt find him, DUH , you gave him 4 days to split town knowing he was had. Sure ,if he gets pulled over there will be warrants on him , but that dont bring my tools back, which are probably long gone by now. I commend the officer for following through with the investigation even though it was out of his hands and in the hands of the C.I.D. and at least recognizing the description of the vehicle and getting the guy identified. We are closer , but yet so far away.

No jail time for lack of insurance, lol, but you do lose your physical license until you provide proof, and if you cannot provide proof your license is suspended/revoked.

At least he would be in custody ( doubt he could make bail)and maybe more willing to cough up my tools. Apparently he is homeless ,living out of the van at the local campgrounds. He could be anywhere in the country by now if he just had gas money, which shouldnt be a problem after selling my tools. He knows he's done , he's just running the clock now buying time out of the crossbar hotel.

Technically you can be arrested for any traffic violation, with that being said the issuance of a citation(ticket) is an arrest but you are not making the person post bond as if the were taken to jail. Most departments do not arrest for the no insurance, however if he was pulled over and didnt have a license the he would have been arrested.
As far as loosing your license for not having insurance, that is taken care of by the state. The state is notified by the courts about the lack of proof of insurance, then the stated issues a letter to the violator giving them a specific time deadline to provide proof of insurance. If said violator does not comply within that time frame then their license is suspended.
