I am in the process of doing a frame off restoration of my 82 K10 Chevy p/u.
What i need to find out is if anyone knows of a shop that can sandblast or
do chemical stripping of a frame and cab. I live near Trenton,N.J. and can travel as far as Harrisburg,Pa area or down to Baltimore,Md. or anywhere in New Jersey to deliver these parts. I am trying to find out what it would cost for a shop to do this or if it would be cheaper for me to buy a sandblaster and do it myself. Thnx

Don't know about local to you, but a company around here will strip, dip, and neutralize a car for about $750. Money well spent, in my opinion!

I prefer media blasting, baking soda (not the cooking kind) works well and if you have it done professionally it costs about the same as chemical dips. With Chemical Dips you have to get the metal neutrilized well or you will have problems in cracks and crevices later on. You don't have that problem with media blasting. Something to check on...

Yeah, soda blasting is the way to go, sand blasting would ruin the sheet metal, especially that thin, high carbon, 1982 sheet metal.
Plus, unless you bought a sandhog, using one these eggshell blasters it would take you years and cost thousands of lives to get the pick-up done.
