Hi guys,I know Al but i am new on here, have been succesfully using the Kafka brush since it was available for the public, has made a nice addition to my sword striping. My work is not real unique,it looks just like Steves and thats after four years using it on the job!Anyway my point,is after i do a color and lighten up or swith colors the brush trys to hop over the colors, almost like putting the breaks on.I try to stripe thick as possible with good flow, but since getting Kafka dvd now i see him work and i dont see that hop in his work,i try thinning more but then it gets out of my comfort zone for paint consictency, any ideas Steve or im i just nuts?

Anyway love you art and the dvd is A1 for showing what yer all about,a must buy for anyone wanting to learn this style,

My $.02. A couple of real cool tips I got off the DVD were using "Smoothie" which I didn't have so I substituted PPG fish eye remover and it seems to work very well. Also swishing the brush in lacquer thinner (which I dont use either but again I substituted PPG gun cleaner which I get for about $35 for 5 gal.) and it also works very well. I keep a baby food jar of it at my striping area and swish my brush around in gun cleaner then in clean mineral spirits and the brush comes out dead clean. I use the little one ounce medicine cups and just add a drop or two of PPG fish eye remover when I want the brush to turn on a dime. Ive also used Penetrol in hot weather in my 1 Shot. BTW Fairline puts out some really great art work Y'all, I hope to someday reach his level, years down the road. AL

Thanks Al for the info.I have Smoothie and use it when doing quill stuff but never tried it for striping.I'll have to try that.I have Penetrol somewhere but havnt used it in years.

I'll add Smoothie and see what happens, and thanks for the kind words!!I aint no Kafka or Bob Bond but i always work to the best of my abilities.

Can you post pics on this forum Al?,I will put some of my Kafka work up here sometime.
Also i totally hate to copy another artist work, but using the Kafka brush makes you stripe like him or want to stripe like him, neither is a bad thing!!!

Posting is pretty easy even for a non computer type like me. Hit reply, then manage attachments and then browse and go to where you have the pic you want to post.

Try slowing down when going over other lines. Also, some colors do this more than others, and a little wetter will help too. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the brushes. I just released a new set of Scriptliners and Eastwood will have them soon.

Great advice Al. There are so many variables--weather, humidity, heat, wind, all factor in when palleting...all part of the fun!

Stripe on!
Steve

Anybody can push a product but i am a hard to please guy and your scroll brushes are just superb, never loose hair and are very predictable,i plan on purchasing all your brushes at some point. Thanks a bunch! :)
