I have 3 2' by 4' sheets of 304 dull mill finish stainless steel that i want to install under my hood of my vette. also have some #8 mirror finish parts under the hood, my question is: how and what steps will be needed to make the dull finish look just like the #8 finish, I have a buffer and wool and other buffing pads. will i also have to wet sand this first??? any help would be great,, :D Thanx

If there is a stainless steel house with a commercial sheet polisher, that is what I would try first. Or just drop $150.00 on a new polished sheet. Then work it and use Eastwoods products to take out the work marks.

If your current sheets are in really great condition you could use Eastwood greaseless 320 grit, to remove the mill scale. Then some grey compound. After that, some clean new wheels and you could play around with some white compound. But I have never been able to totally remove all the streaks from the wheel on large sheet. I can come close, but never have I matched the mill or stainless polishing house. They do the whole sheet at once. We can't do that.
