I need to replace some lower corner that are badly rusted, cut and weld new pices also replace the floor pans.what kind of welding equip. is right for the job ans easy to master ) MIG, TIG, PIG. gas no gas , arc welding ???? Thanks :confused:

pig? not one i have ever heard of. seriously though most i think will agree that you will need a good bit of practice and/or training to do sheet metal repair. but if you have your heart set on it i would suggest that you go with the mig. this type is probably the easiest for the novice to learn and also the most forgiving on thin sheet metal.

If you get a Mig, I suggest that you to to a store that sells sheet metal and buy a 2' X 4' sheet of the same gauge as your repair, say 20 gauge. I cut it into strips about 2" wide then practiced welding them back together. When you can do it without burning through you can start on your car repair, and also you have some idea as to the wire feed speed and the amp range. Don

Get a gas model.. Argon.. with GAS its like night and day..
.023 wire for sheetmetal so it doesnt require too much heat to melt and blend panels together.. as too much heat that can warp them..
tap, tap, tap././ get good at it on scraps.. then "have at it"
PS: PIG is when your welding PIG iron right? :p
