Thread: Concours primer tip size

    Default Concours primer tip size

I have a Concours gun with the 1.2 & 1.4 tips. My understanding is those sizes will work well for waterborne base and for clears, but I don't know about primer. Is a 1.4 going to work for that?

I'm not sure what sort of primer Eastwood would recommend for a Concours gun, and would welcome suggestions. Is there such a thing as waterborne primer?

1.4 will work fine with most primers if you reduce the primer to get the desired flow out of the gun. How much you reduce will really depend on which primer you use and your personal preference, but I'd guess reduced 8-10% is a safe starting point.

We sell Autoair waterborne products, but do not offer a waterborne primer currently. Many of the large paint manufacturers have begun to offer a waterborne primer. The waterborne primer you may not need to reduce as much as you would with a urethane or high build primer to shoot with a 1.4 tip.

    Hope that helps!
