Thread: Paint removal

  1. Paint removal

Corvette with Chevy orange painted valve covers. It looks like they were painted with a brush. Under the paint looks like chrome vale covers. First.. Need to remove paint without denting or scratching covers. Then will decide on next step, depending on surface condition. Thanks, Annon Acct# 0049536121

Depending on what they were painted with, a cheap solution to try would be carb cleaner. I've had good luck using carb cleaner and 0000 steel wool to remove paint from chrome plated parts. The 0000 steel wool also does a good job at cleaning up old chrome parts.
