Default How to restore brushed aluminum finish?

    Hi,

Am restoring some motorcycles, but am stumped on how to restore the brushed finish on aluminum castings, such as engine cases, swingarms, etc.

The parts originally came with a brushed finish covered with clear coat. The clear coat typically fails, and contaminants then muck up the brushed finish.

Can I get guidance on fastest/best way to restore this brushed finish?

    Thanks!

Here is a past post that discusses creating a brushed finish. For your application, you will need to remove the failed clear coat and get to the metal.
