Heating chrome rims

Muratic acid will remove the chrome. But only the chrome, not the nickel or copper underneath. For those, you have to get into more harsh chems - something best left to the guys that have to charge an arm and a leg for chrome work because of the damb EPA

The good part about the underlying coatings, is.... you don't HAVE to remove them to coat, but they do affect the finish somewhat,... especially on trans/candies... but you can actually get a good profile on them after the hard coating of chrome is gone, for solid tones.

True. I probably average 3 or 4 trips a month to the chromer to de-chrome something, then I blast what's left and procede as normal.
