i was curious im have a 1968 mustang im gonna paint quater mile candy red it says the candy red is for the top coat i was wanting to know what do u recomend for the base this is my first paint project and im learning as i go so any advie would be apreciated ty.

Why don't you try powder coating for your project?

I wouldent recomend doing a candy paint job your first time out its harder than it looks for all kinds of reasons.However , if you think you can handle it I use either a gold base coat or silver and ive used pearl white a few times also . Its important to use very good techniq as it cannot be fixed without starting over . Start by painting test panels and keep track of how many coats you apply . When you feel comphy , move onto the car.Let me know how it turns out .
