Default Best TIG welder for price

I am looking to purchase a TIG welder for my shop. What is the best value for my money to purchase that has ease of use and quality? I don't want to spend over $1600.00 .

    Default I have a Miller Diversion 165

It is the best welder that I have ever used.
I used it to replace my Maxstar 150 STL.
It is easy to use and the welds that I produce are good.

Glad you enjoyed it! It's really only a good deal if you already have a DC stick welder (buzzbox). If you have to go out and buy one, you may want to look for someone selling a used TIG welding machine.

MIG and TIG are 2 completely different animals, each with it's own advantages, and disadvantages. But, it's nice to have the option to do either.

If I can help you out, in any way, feel free to ask! I've been doing this stuff for a long time.

yeah i think i might be able to find a used buzz box....
I cringed at the price of a new tig set up....lol

Im all about low buck projects....especially since i do all my own work.(plus it keeps the wife off my back!)
I will be asking some questions once i get the buzz box.

Im in the process of rebuilding/restifying a 1987 nissan 4wd station wagon(gonna make it an awd turbo beast after i get it road worthy) and have an awd turboed 1987 pulsar that i have tore down to just the shell that im also rebuilding gonna make it 4wd and n/a(it will be my oldest daughters first car!)
so i have my hands full working on two huge car projects at one time...lol

You are an ambitious guy! That sounds like a ton of work! Apparently you enjoy that kind of stuff.

    I'm currently doing a frame up restoration of a 1979 CJ5.

Well, I'll do the best I can to answer your questions...
