I noted a couple of months ago that Eastwood is now selling some affordable ($69) auto-darkening welding helmets. Has anyone used them, and can you give a review? They certainly look the business. I've got a pretty busted up helmet and I'm not thrilled with the performance, so I'm considering...
Is anyone using these for Mig welding? If so, how do they hold up after repeated heating? Seems like they would start to get weak after a while. Doesn't heat break down magnets? Just curious. Thanks
I am interested in welding and fabrication, but have no skills or experience at all. Where should I start?
Hi, Hope I posted this question in the correct category. Is masonry sand ($4 for 90lbs) a effective media for cleaning metal with light corrosion and old paint vs. aluminum oxide which is easily 10-15x more. The sand is kiln dried and graded. I will be using a supplied air respirator and the...
Has anyone used "Twenty gauge" welding wire? Just curious.
I am looking to purchase a TIG welder for my shop. What is the best value for my money to purchase that has ease of use and quality? I don't want to spend over $1600.00 .

Anyone use 3m automix or any of the other panel bonders out there, in place of welding. 3M claims a lifetime warranty when use for non structural applications(ie door skins, quater panels roofs ect)
If anyone is thinking of doing their own welding and has never did it before, I will pass on the same direction I was given by a 76 y/o drag racer while he was working on his latest machine, a '40's Willy's. All he said was just like the title: Practice, practice practice. I will admit that...
Anyone have any tricks for getting good penetration and stick for floor pans for a Challenger? Kicking my butt a little bit and curious if anyone has some tricks out there..
Hello all, I am planning to box my lower control arms with a kit. I need to have the arms blasted first. My question is, should I use a weld through primer of some sort to protect the inside, or should I weld the bare metal and coat the insides with primer afterwards? Thanks, Joe M.
