As I reside in the UK I am finding it difficult to locate a supplier of Eastwoods Rust Converter. If I only use Pre and Encapsulator, will this give me long term protection on my rusty floor pans and inner roof ??
What would be the best solution for rust through on ford hoods. Rust begins where the two panels are sandwiched together. Should I split the two panels completely apart, or treat the existing areas with a rust converter? Thanks ahead of time, first time poster.
My exhaust pipes (from the exhaust manifold back) are solid but covered with rust. After I wire wheel them, can I coat them with rust converter before I paint them with hi temp paint? How is the best way to deal with these pipes? Thanks.
Hello, Anyone know a good way to seal up the inside floor pans so rust will not occur. The floor is bare metal and will need some type of application. What works the best? Thanks, Nick
Can I topcoat Rust Encapsulator with DupliColor colored touch-up stick or DupliColor clear coat touch-up stick?
This week I started stripping down my 1994 Nissan 300zx to prep the body for paint. Before I bought the car, it had some so-so repairs done to it, including replacing the whole driver's side rear quarter panel. The panel was spliced in at the factory joints, and after removing all the panels, the...
I am working on a Yamaha XS850 Special, and the engine is very corroded. I wanted to know if anyone had a solution to removing the oxidation from the aluminum engine cases. I have tried using wire brushs and small round bristled brushs between the fins. This is a long and tedious process. If...
Hi, I'm currently prepping my 65 Pontiac frame for refinishing. I have ground away large rust and undercoating areas and will be sand blasting hard to reach areas and a quick blast on the balance of frame. My questions are... 1. What do you recommend for blasting media? 2. Do the...
Does anyone have a lasting solution for refinishing moving parts? By that, I mean parts having close tolerances that would prohibit powder coating or thick paints (POR-15). I know plating is one option. I thought about simply applying rattlecan clearcoat, but I doubt that would hold up over...
Has anyone used this to paint inside of rockers with? http://www.eastwood.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/250x160/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/p27319.jpg I have a cheep schutz gun with the 3m 36" 360° wand and tried to spray zero rust and POR-15 and am not having any luck getting it...
I have a car with a large rust spot on the roof and was wondering if rust dissolver would harm glass? If so what would be the best way to protect the glass or is removal my best option?
I just ordered some Rust Converter and Rust Encapsulator to use on my 2003 ML320. The previous owner left dozens of rock chips unattended and a lot of them now have rust. My plan is to thoroughly clean out each one with a rust pen, then use the converter and encapsulator (in separate...
I'm restoring a Triumph TR6 and have it down to the frame. The frame is covered with surface rust and I will have it blasted but I don't know what to do about the rust on the interior. It's not deeply rusted. There are access holes in every section that I can use to apply into. Here are my...
Hello all. My first post here, figured I'd ask here since I am using Rust Converter. I had the lower valance of my 69 Charger sandblasted to remove old paint and rust. After blasting, there was a little bit of rust left but nothing major, so I figured to protect the 40 year-old metal for another...
Hello, I plan on using your rust encapsulator to basically undercoat the underside of my rv. The diesel engine's oil pan and exhaust header from the engine has rust forming and also needs some help. Parts of the engine area and underside are in hard to reach and would need to be done with a spray...
What's the best way to attack the hidden area inside my 72 bug's heater channels?
I am starting to work on the bed of my 56 Chevy. The sides and head board have tubes running the length. I can clean them a little, like I do my riffle, but I can not really do a good job. I have one of your wand guns and can reach almost half way in from each end. So the question is which one...
I never thought I would consider this...but I have an 87 GMC farm truck that I garage for about a year and it was showing the normal rust that those trucks have. After 9 months my truck looked like it aged a decade. Is it possible that how I stored my truck has speeded up the rust process. I...
Good evening. I'm new to rust repair using metal patches. This is not a classic car, but I would like to achieve a long-lived result. What are the relative merits of body filler vs seam sealer in general rust repair? 1. How large a void can seam sealer be successfully used for? 2....
Hi, I hope I am doing this right, I haven't used the forum before. I hope someone can answer this for me. We have been doing quite a bit of rust repair on various cars, mainly 30s vintage; welding in patches, using rust converter and topping it with rust encapsulator and following with top...
